Why I chose to read "A Child Called It"

I heard of the story originally from my mom. She read it when it first came out, but I was too young to really appreciate the meaning of what happened to Dave Pelzer. Also, becaue I was so young, I'm sure that my mom wouldn't have allowed me to read it anyways. I originally chose to read "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus," but I rembered, after I chose that book, about the story of Pelzer. Since I have matured since the time my mom read it, I decided that I want to learn about what happened to Dave Pelzer as a child. Some people might think that I have a sick mind, but I enjoy reading about abuse and disturbing stories to help me stay grateful for what I have and to remind me not to give up when things seem tough, because it could always be worse.
